SMALL SCHOOLS

Sac High offers students the best of two worlds - the support and personalization of a small school combined with the advantages of a large school. Sac High is organized into four theme-based small schools. Each small school has approximately 250 students and is focused on preparing every student for college and the world beyond. School culture and behavior expectations are consistent across the small schools and all students have access to campus-wide resources including tutoring, leadership and enrichment opportunities, athletics, arts and student activities.

Each small school offers a rigorous liberal arts curriculum that provides a full range of college preparatory courses, including Advanced Placement. The program of studies is designed to fulfill all state requirements for accreditation and meets the "A-G" requirements for admission into the University of California and California State University systems. Each small school also offers electives which emphasize the school theme and are part of a thematic scope and sequence. Students select one of the small schools upon admission. This approach offers students challenge, flexibility and choice.
