ACADEMICS
Sac High offers the best of two worlds - the support and personalization of a small school combined with the advantages of a large school. Organized into four theme-based small schools, Sac High is focused on preparing every student for college and the world beyond. School culture as well as academic and behavior expectations are consistent across the small schools and students have access to campus-wide resources including tutoring, leadership and enrichment opportunities, athletics, arts, and student activities.

Tutoring: Supplemental Education Services (SES/tutoring) are currently underway for the 2009-2010 school year. The tutoring is funded through Title I as a requirement of Sac High's Program Improvement (PI) Year 3 status (see below for more information on PI). This tutoring is provided at no cost to families who are eligible for free/reduced lunch.
Currently the enrollment period for SES is closed (as of October 27, 2009; please click here for details). To participate, parents selected from one of the tutoring organizations listed in this document or from any of the CA Department of Education approved tutoring organizations found at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/ti/supplemental.asp. Eligible families received this information by mail and the information is still available in the Sac High's main office.
Tutoring takes place outside of regular school hours at locations determined by parent and tutoring provider. Many tutors meet at public libraries, community centers, in-home (with an adult present), or at the school site. Tutors are also available to work with students with disabilities or who are English learners (see attached list for more specific information).
If you would like your child to be added to the wait list for SES, please complete the second page of the information letter and return to the Sac High main office. Parents will be contacted if space becomes available.

of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The school is a member
of the College Board and the National Association
for College Admissions Counseling.
Program Improvement, Year 3
For 2009-2010, Sac High has been designated as a Program Improvement Year 3 school. For more information on Sac High's designation, please see the letter mailed to parents regarding PI.
To read the State Superintendent of Public Instructions words on the State of California's progress in public schools, please click here.
In 2008-2009, as a PI Year 2 school, 18 of the approximately 500 eligible students (eligibility is determined by eligibility for free and reduced lunch) participated in Supplemental Education Services (SES/tutoring). SES was not offered until summer 2009 due to a mid-year status change that determined the school's requirement to provide SES.
In 2009-2010, approximately 725 students were eligible to receive SES (eligibility is determined by eligibility for free and reduced lunch). Currently, the maximum number of students (as determined by the California Department of Education per pupil rate - 45 students) are receiving these additional tutoring services.
